Tottenham Open Talks With Manchester City Over Savinho Move
Spurs have set their sights on the Brazilian international in an effort to increase their offensive alternatives for the upcoming season.
According to “GE,” Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have started exploratory negotiations on a deal for Savinho. In order to improve their offense before the 2026–2027 season, the London club has designated the Brazilian forward as a major priority. According to GloboEsporte, talks for a long-term agreement have begun, but they are still in their early phases.
Savinho, a graduate of the Atlético-MG system, gained recognition in Europe following an outstanding tenure with Girona, leading to a transfer to Manchester City for the 2024–2025 campaign. The winger has thrived under Pep Guardiola’s guidance and established himself as a staple in the Brazil national team lineup. He returned to the City fold for the last stretch of the previous season, despite missing time due to a thigh injury.
The transfer is a part of Tottenham Hotspur’s major roster restructuring under manager Roberto De Zerbi. The team is in dire need of reinforcements following a difficult Premier League season to avoid falling into the bottom half of the table once more. Savinho would join fellow countryman Richarlison in the Spurs lineup if the move goes through in the Spurs ranks.
The winger has always piqued Spurs’ interest; last October, the team reportedly tried to entice him to North London, but Manchester City was able to secure his future with a new deal. The forward’s current contract with the “Cityzens” expires in the summer of 2031.

Messi Awarded The 2026 Princess Of Asturias Award For Sports
Lionel Messi has added another landmark honour to his unparalleled career after being named the recipient of the 2026 Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, Spain’s highest sporting distinction and one of the most prestigious accolades in world sport.
The Inter Miami and Argentina captain was recognised for a career that has transcended football, combining extraordinary individual achievement, collective success and a lasting impact both on and off the pitch.
In its official statement, the jury highlighted Messi’s status as one of the greatest athletes in history, praising a career defined by excellence, longevity, and an unwavering commitment to team success.
The panel also underlined the admiration he has earned throughout the sporting world for his humility, professionalism and sporting values.
The award further acknowledged the Argentine’s extensive charitable work, particularly through initiatives aimed at improving access to education and healthcare for vulnerable children around the world.

A unique honour in Spanish sport
Messi becomes the first footballer to receive the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports as an individual recipient.
Previous football-related winners include Spain legends Iker Casillas and Xavi Hernandez, who shared the award in 2012, while the Brazil national team and Spain national team were honoured in 2002 and 2010, respectively.
The distinction places Messi alongside some of the most influential figures in international sport.
Last year’s award went to tennis icon Serena Williams, whose extraordinary record of 23 Grand Slam titles, four Olympic gold medals and commitment to equality earned widespread recognition.
Other recent recipients include Carolina Marin, Eliud Kipchoge, Teresa Perales, Carlos Sainz, Lindsey Vonn, Reinhold Messner, Krzysztof Wielicki, the Olympic Refuge Foundation and New Zealand’s legendary All Blacks rugby team.
Recognition beyond football
The Princess of Asturias Award for Sports is the sixth of the eight categories announced in the 2026 edition of the awards.
This year’s winners already include singer Patti Smith (Arts), Studio Ghibli (Communication and Humanities), scientists David Klenerman, Shankar Balasubramanian and Pascal Mayer (Scientific and Technical Research), the Svalbard Global Seed Vault (International Cooperation), and historian Timothy Garton Ash (Social Sciences).
The Literature Award will be announced on 10 June, followed by the Concord Award one week later.
As tradition dictates, Messi will receive the award during the official ceremony at Oviedo’s Campoamor Theatre in October, in the presence of King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia.
For a player who has already conquered every major trophy football has to offer, the distinction serves as recognition not only of his achievements on the pitch, but also of the global legacy he has built throughout an extraordinary career.

Dumfries And Konate: The First Signs Of Mourinho’s Real Madrid Revolution
Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate have been named as Florentino Perez’s main reinforcements as he begins a squad revamp amid an election battle against Enrique Riquelme. These formidable additions immediately exhibit the distinctive characteristics of a Jose Mourinho team.

The plan for the 2026–2027 season is already taking shape, even though Florentino Perez has not yet been formally re-elected as Real Madrid’s president and Jose Mourinho has not yet been confirmed as the new manager.
Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate are the club’s initial moves in a daring new direction, even though they are still undergoing medical examinations.

The 30-year-old Dutch full-back is anticipated to fetch a cost of 20 million euros, and Madrid has acquired one of the most sought-after free agents on the market by pursuing the Liverpool center-back.
This recruitment campaign marks the beginning of a massive overhaul spearheaded by the presidential candidate, who, barring a catastrophic event, is certain to win reelection on Sunday. But this is just the start.

Although formal announcements are still due, many significant choices have already been made behind the scenes, such as the recall of Nico Paz and the return of Endrick.
According to reports, Perez has told his inner circle that more fireworks are on the horizon and that the team is prioritizing innovative midfield additions. Enzo Fernandez and Rodri are two of the well-known names being considered.

Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate are the quintessential Mourinho acquisitions: physically commanding players intended to bolster the defense.
This defensive reorganization is a direct reaction to a campaign marred by weakness when Carvajal left and long-term injuries to Mendy and Militao.
