Gbetsile: Six-Year-Old Girl Drowns In Septic Tank While Searching For Water
A six-year-old girl tragically drowned while looking for water in an exposed septic tank at Liberty Estate in Gbetsile. This incident sparked indignation and rekindled worries about the community’s water shortage and kid safety.
The child, known as Abi, is said to have gone to gather water close to a neighbor’s house on Sunday, May 24, 2026. Before assistance could arrive, she perished after unintentionally falling into the exposed septic tank, according to the locals.
The town has been traumatized by the catastrophe, and many locals attribute the tragedy to the area’s ongoing lack of access to dependable and clean water.
Community members claim that persistent water shortages often force youngsters to go from home to home in quest of water, putting them in perilous situations.
“This beautiful soul has been lost simply because there is no water,” a resident lamented.
Locals are urging authorities to take immediate action to address the water problem and to impose more stringent safety regulations to guarantee that potentially dangerous buildings, including septic tanks, are adequately covered and secured.
The community is deeply concerned about the tragedy and is calling for quick action to enhance water access and stop future occurrences of this kind.
