OFFICIAL: Alex Baena Joins Atlético Madrid in €50 Million Deal from Villarreal

Published

on

Atlético Madrid have officially completed the signing of Spanish midfielder Alex Baena from Villarreal, in a deal worth €45 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

The transfer, confirmed by renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano on July 2, 2025, sees Baena make the switch to the Wanda Metropolitano after rising through the ranks at Villarreal and establishing himself as one of La Liga’s most promising young talents.

At just 23, Baena has impressed with his creativity, work rate, and versatility in midfield. His performances last season for the Yellow Submarine caught the attention of top clubs across Europe, but it was Atlético who moved decisively to secure his signature.

Baena’s arrival is expected to bolster Diego Simeone’s squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, as the club looks to compete for both domestic and European honours. The deal is seen as a significant investment in the future of Atlético’s midfield, with the add-ons likely tied to performance and appearances.

The transfer marks a key moment in Atlético’s summer business and signals their intent to build a dynamic and competitive squad capable of challenging their rivals at the top of La Liga.

JUST IN: Liverpool Star Diogo Jota, 28, Dies in Tragic Car Crash Alongside Brother in Spain

Published

on

The global football community is in shock following the sudden death of Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash early Wednesday morning in Spain. The 28-year-old footballer and his brother, André Jota, 26, were both killed when their vehicle veered off the A-52 motorway in Zamora province and caught fire.

The accident happened near kilometre 65 in Palacios de Sanabria, located in northwestern Spain. According to emergency services, the car lost control during the night, left the roadway, and burst into flames. Both occupants were declared dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether speed, road conditions, or mechanical failure played a role. The severity of the fire made identification initially difficult, but Spanish reports have since confirmed the identities of both victims.

A Sudden End to a Rising Career

Jota began his professional career with Paços de Ferreira in Portugal before earning a move to Atlético Madrid and later making a name for himself at Wolverhampton Wanderers. In 2020, he signed for Liverpool FC, where he developed into one of the Premier League’s most reliable and versatile forwards.

Known for his sharp instincts, positional awareness, and ability to score crucial goals, Jota became a key figure in both Liverpool’s domestic campaigns and the Portuguese national team. He featured prominently in international competitions, including the most recent UEFA Euro 2024.

His younger brother, André Jota, was not publicly involved in football but accompanied Diogo on what is believed to have been a private trip to Spain.

Ongoing Investigation and Next Steps

Spanish authorities have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances of the crash. An autopsy and forensic analysis are underway. The bodies of both men are expected to be repatriated to Portugal in the coming days.

Fans and officials are awaiting statements from Liverpool FC and the Portuguese Football Federation. A moment of silence is likely to be held at upcoming matches across Europe in honor of the late forward.

Remembering Diogo Jota

At just 28 years old, Diogo Jota had achieved a remarkable rise from the Portuguese leagues to the top of European football. His sudden death leaves a deep void at both club and international level.

on

Sunderland have completed the signing of Noah Sadiki from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, in a major summer acquisition that signals the club’s ambition ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The deal, reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, was finalized today, with the 21-year-old undergoing a medical in the morning before signing a contract that runs until June 2030. The agreement includes a €17 million base fee, with €3 million in add-ons, bringing the potential total package to €20 million.

Sadiki, known for his versatility and energy in midfield and defense, is expected to play a key role in Sunderland’s campaign as they push to solidify their place among English football’s elite. His arrival marks a significant statement from the club as they continue to strengthen their squad with young, high-potential talent.

The former Anderlecht youth product made a name for himself at Union SG with his composure on the ball, tactical intelligence, and ability to play across multiple positions. With his move to England now confirmed, Sunderland fans will be eager to see how he adapts to life in the Championship—or potentially the Premier League—depending on the club’s status following promotion play-offs.

Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of João Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £60 million, including add-ons. The Brazilian forward has penned a seven-year contract with the London club, becoming one of the first marquee signings under the Blues’ summer transfer strategy.

The transfer includes a £55 million fixed fee, with an additional £5 million in performance-based bonuses, as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

João Pedro, 23, impressed during his spell at Brighton, showcasing a combination of flair, technical ability, and finishing that made him one of the Premier League’s most exciting young forwards.
