Golden Kick FC Make History with First-Ever MTN FA Cup Final Berth
In a stunning upset that has captivated local football fans, lower-tier side Golden Kick FC have secured a place in the final of the 2025 MTN FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
The Accra-based Division One outfit claimed a 3–1 victory over Attram De Visser in a spirited semifinal clash on Saturday, May 10, at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa.
Golden Kick drew first blood in the 16th minute after a costly own goal from Attram De Visser goalkeeper Dawuud Ishaque. They kept up the pressure, doubling their lead just seven minutes later through a composed finish from David Amuzu.
After the break, substitute Bless Ege added a third to effectively seal the game. Attram De Visser, who had previously knocked out defending champions Hearts of Oak, pulled one back in the 87th minute through Precious Yaw Gyimah, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback.
With this victory, Golden Kick become only the third Division One side to reach the FA Cup final since the competition’s reintroduction in 2011. They now join the ranks of FC Nania, Okwahu United (2016), and Bofoakwa Tano (2021) in achieving the rare feat.
Golden Kick will now await the outcome of the second semifinal between nine-time champions Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea, set to take place on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the same venue. Kickoff is at 15:00 GMT.
