Here are all the results and detailed match reports.

Full Results

  • Liverpool 3-2 Atlético Madrid
  • Paris Saint-Germain 4-0 Atalanta
  • Ajax 0-2 Inter Milan
  • Slavia Praha 2-2 Bodø/Glimt

Bayern Munich 3-1 Chelsea

Bayern Munich began their Champions League campaign in style with a 3-1 victory over Chelsea at the Allianz Arena. An unfortunate own goal from Trevoh Chalobah gave the German champions the lead in the 20th minute before Harry Kane doubled the advantage from the penalty spot just seven minutes later. Chelsea quickly responded through Cole Palmer in the 29th minute, but the first half ended with Bayern firmly in control.

The second half saw Bayern’s dominance continue, and Kane struck again in the 63rd minute to restore the two-goal cushion and put the match beyond Chelsea’s reach. The England captain’s brace underlined his importance to the Bavarians, while Chelsea’s defensive lapses cost them dearly. Bayern left the pitch with three deserved points and a strong statement of intent.

Liverpool 3-2 Atlético Madrid

Liverpool produced late drama at Anfield to edge Atlético Madrid 3-2 in a thrilling contest. The Reds raced into an early lead, with Andy Robertson scoring in the 4th minute and Mohamed Salah adding another just two minutes later. Atlético, however, showed resilience and pulled one back before halftime through Marcos Llorente, setting up a tense second half.

The visitors leveled in the 81st minute as Llorente struck again, silencing the home crowd. But Liverpool refused to settle for a draw, and captain Virgil van Dijk powered home a stoppage-time header to seal the win. The result highlighted Liverpool’s attacking firepower and determination, while Atlético regretted their missed chances and defensive weaknesses at crucial moments.

Paris Saint-Germain 4-0 Atalanta

Paris Saint-Germain cruised to a dominant 4-0 victory over Atalanta, sending an emphatic message to the rest of Europe. The French champions controlled proceedings from the first whistle, breaking down Atalanta’s defense with ease and spreading goals across the match. Their attacking trio combined well, leaving the Italian side chasing shadows.

Atalanta struggled to create clear-cut chances and were punished repeatedly on the counter. PSG’s pace and precision proved too much to handle, and the result firmly established them as one of the early frontrunners in this season’s competition. The win also highlighted the depth of their squad, with several players making decisive contributions.

Ajax 0-2 Inter Milan

Inter Milan secured an impressive 2-0 away win against Ajax to begin their Champions League campaign on a high. Marcus Thuram opened the scoring just before halftime, giving the visitors the momentum heading into the break. Ajax had enjoyed good spells of possession but lacked a clinical edge in the final third.

Thuram struck again shortly after the restart, doubling Inter’s lead and effectively ending Ajax’s hopes of a comeback. The Italian side then controlled the tempo, denying Ajax any real chance of recovery. It was a disciplined and efficient performance from Inter, who returned home with three valuable points.

Slavia Praha 2-2 Bodø/Glimt

Slavia Praha and Bodø/Glimt played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, with both sides showing attacking ambition. The Czech champions looked the brighter side in the opening stages and were rewarded with a deserved lead. Bodø/Glimt responded swiftly, however, making sure the contest stayed finely balanced.

In the second half, both teams exchanged goals again as neither was able to fully take control. The draw reflected the even nature of the match, with Slavia’s home advantage cancelled out by the Norwegians’ fighting spirit. Both sides left the pitch with a point, though they will feel chances to win were missed.

Olympiacos 0-0 Pafos

Olympiacos were left frustrated after being held to a goalless draw by Pafos in a match dominated by the Greek side. The hosts controlled possession and created several opportunities but were repeatedly denied by a resilient Cypriot defense.

Pafos, playing with determination and discipline, frustrated their more illustrious opponents and threatened occasionally on the break. In the end, the visitors celebrated a hard-earned point, while Olympiacos were left to reflect on two dropped points at home in what could prove to be a tightly contested group.

Barcelona made it three wins in a row with a commanding 3-0 victory over Getafe on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Ferran Torres scored twice in the first half, and Dani Olmo added a third after the break, keeping Barça unbeaten this season.

From the opening whistle, Barcelona controlled possession and created chance after chance. Torres opened the scoring in the 15th minute after a clever assist from Dani Olmo and doubled the lead just before halftime with a thunderous strike from outside the box.

Getafe tried to respond after the break but struggled to break down Barcelona’s organized defense. The third goal came in the 62nd minute, with Marcus Rashford setting up Olmo to finish calmly, sealing the win.

Arsenal 1-1 Manchester City: Martinelli Strikes Late to Deny Guardiola’s Men

Published

on

Arsenal and Manchester City shared the spoils in a tense Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, as Gabriel Martinelli’s stoppage-time strike salvaged a 1-1 draw for the Gunners. The result leaves Arsenal unbeaten against City in recent meetings, but both sides may feel they missed a chance to make a strong statement in the title race.

City made the brighter start and struck in just the ninth minute. Tijjani Reijnders launched a rapid counterattack, combining with Erling Haaland, who finished with trademark precision past David Raya to give the visitors the lead. Arsenal, by contrast, struggled for rhythm in the first half, finding it difficult to break down City’s compact shape while also leaving themselves vulnerable on the break.

The second half saw a shift in momentum. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta introduced Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze, whose energy and creativity tilted the game in the home side’s favour. Arsenal pressed higher, dominated possession, and carved out opportunities, but City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma stood firm, making key saves to frustrate the Gunners. Pep Guardiola’s side, meanwhile, chose to sit deep and protect their narrow lead, sacrificing attacking intent in favour of defensive organisation.

Just when it seemed City’s resilience would deliver all three points, Arsenal struck back in dramatic fashion. In the third minute of stoppage time, Eze’s long ball released Martinelli, who kept his composure to lob Donnarumma and send the Emirates into raptures. The goal secured a deserved point for Arsenal, who had pressed relentlessly in search of an equaliser.

The result leaves Arsenal on 10 points from five matches, while City sit on seven. For Arsenal, the draw was a relief but also a reminder of the fine margins in top-level contests. For City, the late concession underscored lingering questions about their ability to maintain control when defending a lead. Both teams, however, remain firmly in the early title picture, and Sunday’s clash offered a glimpse of the intensity likely to define the race ahead.

As they set a new national record, Ibrahim Fuseini, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu burned the field.

Japan, the host nation, qualified for the finals by finishing third in 38.07 seconds, while the Netherlands came in second in 37.95 seconds.

The race was dramatic, and the finalists, South Africa, Northern Ireland, and Great Britain, did not make it to the finals because they did not finish the race.

Jamaica also lost the race in the other heat because Kishane Thompson, the silver medallist in the Men’s 100 Metre event, was unable to get the baton during the changeover.
