OFFICIAL: Tottenham Sign Mohammed Kudus In a £55 Million Deal
Tottenham Hotspur have reached a full agreement with West Ham United to sign Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus in a blockbuster deal worth approximately £55 million. The move marks a major statement by Spurs as they continue to reinforce their squad ahead of the new season.
Kudus, 24, is expected to undergo a medical on Thursday before finalising a six-year contract with the North London club. Sources close to the negotiations say the deal will be paid in installments over three years, and personal terms have already been agreed.
The transfer is notable as the first direct deal between Tottenham and West Ham since Scott Parker’s move in 2011. Kudus had a release clause of £85 million in his contract, which expired in early July. West Ham ultimately accepted the lower fee, in part due to financial pressures and the need to balance their books under Premier League spending rules.
Versatile and Dynamic Talent
Kudus joined West Ham in 2023 from Ajax and quickly became one of the Premier League’s most exciting talents. Though he had a slightly quieter second season, he still showed flashes of brilliance with his dribbling, vision, and ability to play across the front line. In total, he made 65 appearances in the Premier League for the Hammers, scoring 13 goals and providing several assists.
Spurs see Kudus as a key piece in their attacking rebuild under new manager Thomas Frank. His versatility allows him to operate as a winger, attacking midfielder, or central forward, making him an ideal fit for Frank’s fluid offensive setup.
Third Major Signing For Spurs
The Ghanaian international becomes Tottenham’s third major summer signing following the arrivals of Japanese defender Kota Takai and French forward Mathys Tel. With the club returning to European football after winning last season’s Europa League, the addition of Kudus signals Tottenham’s intent to compete at the highest level both domestically and abroad.
Despite interest from clubs including Chelsea and several Saudi Arabian sides, Kudus was reportedly keen on the Spurs project and pushed for the move.
Medical and Official Announcement Expected
Kudus is scheduled to complete his medical on Thursday, July 10. Barring any late complications, Tottenham are expected to officially announce the signing shortly after. Fans are already buzzing over the club’s bold summer strategy, which they hope will bring silverware back to North London.
Tottenham’s capture of Mohammed Kudus is a significant coup in the summer transfer window. With youth, talent, and European experience, Kudus adds firepower and flair to Spurs’ attacking options. All eyes will now be on his debut and how quickly he adapts to his new surroundings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
