OFFICIAL: Kamaldeen Sulemana Joins Atalanta in €21.5m Deal – Contract Until 2029 Signed

Published

on

In a major move for Ghanaian football, Kamaldeen Sulemana is set to join Italian Serie A side Atalanta from Southampton in a deal worth up to €21.5 million. The agreement, confirmed by renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, marks a significant step forward in the winger’s career after a challenging season in the English Championship.

The deal will see Atalanta pay €17.5 million in instalments, with an additional €4 million in performance-based add-ons. Southampton, who signed Sulemana from Rennes in 2023, have also secured a 15 percent sell-on clause, ensuring future financial benefits should Atalanta sell the player.

Sulemana, 23, is expected to sign a contract that runs until June 2029, with an option to extend. The Ghana international brings pace, flair, and creativity to Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad, who will be looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of a new campaign in Europe.

Sulemana struggled to find consistency with Southampton following their relegation from the Premier League but remained a bright spark with his electric dribbling and ability to stretch defences. His move to Atalanta comes at a crucial point in his development, offering him a fresh start in one of Europe’s top leagues.

This transfer could also prove beneficial for the Black Stars, as regular appearances at a high level will sharpen Sulemana’s form ahead of Ghana’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers and AFCON 2025 preparations.

No New Summer Signings For Barcelona – Joan Laporta

Published

on

FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club does not anticipate making any additional signings during the current summer transfer window. Speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Laporta stated that the squad is in good shape and that head coach Hansi Flick is content with the current options available. The president emphasized that Barcelona’s focus will now shift toward internal development rather than further additions from the market.

“In principle, there will be no more new signings this summer,” Laporta said. “We have a good squad, and the coach wants to strengthen the first team with players from the reserves.” His comments come amid speculation linking Barcelona to several targets, including a potential move for a new midfielder and a right back. However, financial constraints and La Liga’s salary cap regulations continue to restrict the club’s transfer flexibility.

Laporta’s remarks also highlight the club’s renewed commitment to its youth system. With a number of promising talents emerging from La Masia, including Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí, and Marc Guiu, Barcelona aims to promote and develop young players rather than spend heavily in the transfer market. This strategy aligns with the club’s long-standing philosophy and the current leadership’s desire to operate within sustainable financial limits.

While fans may be hoping for late surprises before the window closes, Laporta’s comments suggest that Barcelona’s business for the summer is effectively complete. Unless an unexpected opportunity arises or player sales free up significant resources, the Catalan giants will head into the new season relying on squad continuity and internal growth. The challenge for Flick will be to blend experience with emerging talent as Barcelona look to reclaim domestic and European success.

Chelsea Maintain Active Talks For Jorrel Hato And Xavi Simons

Published

on

Chelsea are actively working behind the scenes to secure two of the most exciting young talents in European football: Jorrel Hato of Ajax and Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig. The club is holding parallel negotiations with both players’ representatives and their respective clubs as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season. Sources close to the negotiations confirm that Chelsea have made significant progress in both pursuits, with personal terms nearly finalized.

For Jorrel Hato, the deal appears to be further along. The 18-year-old Dutch defender has already agreed to personal terms with Chelsea, signaling his strong desire to make the move to Stamford Bridge. Talks between Chelsea and Ajax are ongoing regarding the transfer fee, with the Dutch club expected to demand a significant sum for one of their brightest academy graduates. Hato is known for his composure on the ball and maturity beyond his years, and he is seen as a long-term solution in central defense.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s pursuit of Xavi Simons is described as being at an advanced stage. The versatile midfielder, who impressed during his loan spell at Leipzig last season, is open to joining Chelsea, and discussions over a potential permanent move are continuing. Although Simons is officially contracted to Paris Saint-Germain, Leipzig retain a degree of involvement due to a prior agreement, which complicates the negotiation process. Still, Chelsea remain confident they can reach a suitable arrangement.

These moves signal a clear shift in Chelsea’s recruitment strategy, prioritizing elite young talent with high ceilings and resale value. With Hato and Simons both eager to join, the club’s next hurdle will be agreeing on fees with Ajax and Leipzig. If successful, these signings could reinforce Chelsea’s long-term project under manager Enzo Maresca and provide additional energy and creativity across the backline and midfield. Fans will be watching closely as talks continue in the coming days.

Germany 0-1 Spain (AET): La Roja Defeat Eight-Time Champions To Reach First Women’s Euro Final

Published

on

Spain Women made history on Tuesday night by defeating Germany 1-0 in extra time to reach their first-ever UEFA Women’s Euro final. The semi-final clash, held in Basel, was a tense encounter between two of Europe’s strongest sides.

Germany, with eight European titles to their name, looked the more dominant in regulation time, creating several chances but failing to find a way past Spain’s outstanding goalkeeper, Cata Coll.

The breakthrough came in the 113th minute when Aitana Bonmatí capitalized on a pass from Athenea del Castillo and slotted the ball into the near post. It was a moment of brilliance that defined the match, as Spain’s patience and tactical discipline paid off in the closing stages.

Bonmatí, one of the most influential midfielders in the game, once again delivered under pressure, confirming her status as a match-winner.

Spain’s defensive resilience was equally crucial. Goalkeeper Cata Coll made a series of key saves to keep the scores level during regular time, including a critical stop from Klara Bühl.

Her composure and shot-stopping ability helped Spain weather Germany’s attacking threat and laid the foundation for their extra-time success.

Spain’s victory is also their first over Germany in a major tournament, marking a symbolic breakthrough against one of women’s football’s traditional giants.

With this win, Spain advance to face England in the final on Sunday, July 27. The match will be a highly anticipated rematch of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final, which Spain also won.

A victory in Basel would make Spain the reigning world and European champions, further underlining their dominance in the modern era of women’s football.

Germany, meanwhile, exit the tournament with pride but will reflect on missed opportunities in a match that could have gone either way.
