Ejisu MP Urges Government To Address Bad Roads

Hon. Kwabena Boateng, the Ejisu Member of Parliament, has urged the government, via the Ministry of Roads and Highways, to make sure road contractors return to their sites immediately.
On Monday, July 21, 2025, he spoke on the floor of parliament and said that the Ashanti region’s Ejisu-Onwe-Essienimpong-Kwaso Road, Kokobra-Ekyem-Amoa-Achiase Road, and Besease Jamasi Road have turned into death traps that put pregnant women, traders, farmers, and school children in danger.
He added that most farm produce is left in the bush to rot because of the terrible state of the roads, and that communities like Ekyem, Akokoamon, and Asamang have not had asphalt roads since Ghana gained its independence.
The MP petition follows a protest on July 7, 2025, that was organized by the Concerned Drivers Union of Ejisu.
They complained about potholes that are causing miscarriages among pregnant women on the Ejisu-Onwe road.
Many drivers and locals joined the four-hour protest to voice their disapproval of the poor road systems, especially those between Onwe and Kwaso.
The Ejisu-Onwe and Achiase roads were initiated by the former Akufo Addo administration, but they were not finished before they left office.
Mr. Kwabena Boateng is pleading with the Mahama administration to finish the road projects that the previous administration initiated.
He claims that during the rainy season, most schoolchildren in the impacted communities struggle to get to class, and cars become stopped on the way to work.

Nigerian Man Arrested After Botched Robbery Leaves Mobile Money Vendor Injured In Avenor

What started as an ordinary evening for a Mobile Money vendor in Avenor, Accra, turned into a nightmare when two armed men stormed her workplace on June 30, 2025. Riding an unregistered motorcycle, the men attacked the unsuspecting woman around 8:30 p.m., demanding her bag full of cash.
In the chaos that followed, three gunshots rang out. One of the bullets struck the vendor in the leg, leaving her bleeding and terrified. The robbers made away with her bag, which reportedly contained GH₵20,000.
But their escape did not go as planned.
A brave bystander, witnessing the incident, raised an alarm that forced the robbers to abandon their motorcycle and flee on foot. This timely intervention became a crucial break in the case.
One of the suspects, 36-year-old Emmanuel Okafor Chukwuma, a Nigerian national, was later arrested while allegedly attempting to leave the country. Investigators revealed that Chukwuma had already bought tickets in an effort to flee to Nigeria following the robbery.
Thanks to the swift work of the police and the vigilance of the community, he was taken into custody and has since been remanded by an Accra court. His next court appearance is set for July 30, 2025.
The stolen bag was recovered during the investigation, with GH₵9,000 still intact. The victim has since been reunited with her belongings, though she continues to recover from her injury.
Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Regional Police Command, praised the public’s quick response and urged residents to stay alert and continue supporting law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity through emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
