France Outclass Germany 2-0 to Secure Nations League Third-Place Finish in Stuttgart

Published

on

France delivered a composed and clinical performance to defeat Germany 2-0 in the UEFA Nations League third-place playoff on Sunday, June 8, at the MHPArena in Stuttgart. Goals from Kylian Mbappé and Michael Olise sealed the win for Les Bleus, who bounced back from their semi-final loss to Spain with a statement victory.

Mbappé Makes History

The match saw France’s captain Kylian Mbappé etch his name further into football history by scoring his 50th international goal. The landmark strike came just before halftime when he curled a stunning effort past German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, putting France ahead in the 45th minute.

Mbappé’s goal not only gave France the lead but also made him the fastest player to reach 50 goals for the French national team—surpassing the previous record held by Thierry Henry.

Germany’s Missed Chances

Julian Nagelsmann’s side started brightly, creating early chances through Niclas Füllkrug and Nick Woltemade, but France goalkeeper Mike Maignan proved equal to the task. Germany believed they had found an equalizer early in the second half when Deniz Undav found the net, but the goal was ruled out by VAR for a foul in the build-up.

Despite enjoying more possession, Germany lacked sharpness in the final third. Their frustrations grew as they struggled to break down a disciplined French defense.

Olise Seals the Win

France doubled their lead in the 84th minute through Michael Olise. The young forward finished off a smooth counterattack, tapping into an open net after being unselfishly set up by Mbappé. The goal capped off a confident display from Didier Deschamps’ men, who managed the closing stages with ease.

Tactical Discipline and Clinical Finishing

While Germany held 55% of possession and registered more shots overall, France’s tactical discipline and clinical finishing proved decisive. The French midfield, anchored by Aurélien Tchouaméni and Eduardo Camavinga, stifled German creativity, while Maignan remained solid in goal.

What’s Next?

For Germany, the defeat ends their Nations League campaign on a disappointing note, having also lost their semi-final clash with Portugal. Nagelsmann will now focus on refining his squad’s attacking efficiency ahead of future competitions.

France, on the other hand, will take pride in their third-place finish, buoyed by Mbappé’s milestone and a renewed sense of confidence following the heartbreak of their semi-final exit.

Final Score: Germany 0–2 France
Goals:

  • Mbappé (45’)
  • Olise (84’)

Venue: MHPArena, Stuttgart
Referee: Ivan Kruzliak

France finish their Nations League campaign on a high, while Germany are left to reflect on what might have been. With the European Championship on the horizon, both teams will be eager to build on the lessons from this contest.

Another Bellingham in Dortmund: Jobe signs for BVB In €33m Deal

Published

on

In a major transfer development, Jobe Bellingham is officially on his way to Borussia Dortmund in a deal that marks a significant moment for both Sunderland and the Bundesliga giants.

Renowned football insider Fabrizio Romano broke the news on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that the highly-rated English midfielder will join Dortmund for a €33 million fixed fee, with €5 million in add-ons and a 15% sell-on clause included in the agreement.

This transfer not only represents a record sale for Sunderland AFC, but also marks the continuation of a remarkable family legacy at Signal Iduna Park.

Just a few years ago, Jobe’s older brother Jude Bellingham burst onto the global football stage through his performances at Dortmund before making a headline move to Real Madrid.

Now, Jobe follows in his footsteps, poised to carve out his own legacy in black and yellow.

Borussia Dortmund had initially tabled a €20 million offer, but Sunderland stood firm, demanding better value for one of their brightest prospects.

Their patience has paid off with a deal that firmly places Jobe among the most expensive players in the club’s history.

This signing is seen as a major coup for Dortmund, who continue to prioritize youth development and smart recruitment.

With Jobe’s versatility, composure, and technical quality, he is expected to integrate smoothly into Dortmund’s dynamic midfield setup.

As the club prepares for the 2025/26 season, fans will be eager to see what this new Bellingham can bring.

One thing is certain: Borussia Dortmund’s faith in young talent remains unwavering — and the Bellingham name is back in the Bundesliga spotlight.

Osimhen Turns Down €75m Al Hilal Move — Galatasaray Ready to Strike

Published

on

In a dramatic twist to one of the summer’s most anticipated transfer sagas, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has rejected a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal—despite a reported agreement between the club and Napoli for a €75 million transfer fee.

Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Sunday, June 8, stating that Osimhen personally turned down the lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League club. The development comes even after weeks of negotiations that saw Al Hilal and Napoli reach a consensus on the financial terms of the deal.

However, Osimhen, who remains one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards, appears uninterested in making a switch to the Middle East at this stage of his career.

The rejection has opened the door for other clubs, with Turkish giants Galatasaray reportedly set to push hard for his signature. Romano noted that Galatasaray will “insist” on signing the Nigerian international, reigniting competition among European clubs eager to secure the striker’s services.

Osimhen, 26, has enjoyed a prolific stint at Napoli, playing a key role in their Serie A title triumph in 2023. His combination of speed, power, and finishing ability has drawn attention from several top European clubs in recent transfer windows.

With the Saudi move now off the table, speculation is likely to intensify over Osimhen’s next destination. As the summer transfer window heats up, all eyes will be on Napoli and Galatasaray—along with any other contenders that may enter the race.

Italy Part Ways with Head Coach Luciano Spalletti

Following a devastating 3-0 loss to Norway a few days ago, former Serie A champion Luciano Spalletti is now expected to leave the Italian national team.

According to sources, Spalletti and the FIGC had a crucial meeting yesterday, which put the former manager of Napoli and Inter in danger of losing his position.

The veteran is expected to leave the Azzurri, according to Sky Italia. His decision and the rationale behind it will shortly be made public.

Fabrizio Romano has stated exactly the same and is certain that the voyage will come to an end.

Right now, Daniele de Rossi has also been linked to a departure, and Stefano Pioli is the front-runner to take over.

After leading a lackluster Euros campaign the previous year, Spalletti’s tenure as Azzurri’s manager has been lackluster.
