Bekwai Circuit Court Sentences Two Young Men To 35 Years For Robbery
Two young men were found guilty of robbery and sentenced to a total of 35 years in jail with hard labor by the Bekwai Circuit Court, which was presided over by His Honour Justice Isaac Appiatu.
On April 2, 2025, Yussif Yakubu, 19, and Abubakar Sadiq, 20, were convicted guilty of robbing Agnes Opoku, a trader, close to Bekwai Wesley Senior High School.
Before leaving the area, the two allegedly abused their victim and stole her phone and other possessions.
After days of tracing, the suspects were apprehended at different hiding places as a result of police investigations, according to ASP Lloyd Baidoo Esq., Ashanti South Regional Court Officer and acting Public Relations Officer for the regional command.
Sadiq was given a 20-year sentence by Justice Appiatu, and Yakubu was given a 15-year sentence, both of which were to be served with hard labor.
ASP Baidoo urged young people to focus their energies on worthwhile endeavors, expressing concern over their increasing engagement in criminal activity. Additionally, he warned those who were fostering criminal tendencies to stop before the police caught up with them.
